Education is the focus of American people. They assert proudly their national educational system to be the most democratic one. Looking the several hundred years history of American education, the educational democratization has gone through four stages: colony, the founding of republic to the Civil War, the ending of the Civil War to the World War II , the Second World War to the nineties of the twentieth century. With the deepgoing of the movement of civil rights and feminisrru the standardization of educational legislation, the powerful economics and the pluralistic concept of culture, the educational democratization has made considerable progress. The headway also has been benefit for the cohesion of the whole nation, the development of economics, the awakening of the minority nationality, women and the poor.But the educational system of the USA has not been completely democratized. There are lots of factors to hinder it, such as the unbalanced development of economics , "poverty amid affluence" , sexual discrimination and racial prejudice etc. To complete the educational democratization successfully has been very hard yet.
