| This paper investigated mainly from three aspects: Wuhanxian's lifetime, his devotion to existence and development of traditional Chinese medcine(TCM) as well as his academic ideas. It was thought that Mr. Wu devoted himself to TCM and made an imperishable contribution in this field, embodying that he defended academic theory and the lawful right of TCM, and that he established publication and the school and hospital of TCM, and so on. In academics, Mr. Wu herited the doctrine of Qihuang and Zhongjing, accepted largely the merits of other doctors, and insisted that the theory of ying-yang and functional activity of qi is the core of TCM. He regarded hotness and coldness as the two guiding principles for identifying the Characteristics of diseases. In clinical practice, he emphasized syndrome differentiation and was good at unusual thoughts, which enlightened subsequent people in a certain degree. |
