| Based on the studies of the history of Jin State in Records of History, the thesis analyses the reasons for the frequent warfare in the Jin State, Han, zhao and Wei Dynasty to demonstrate Sima Qian's principles of selecting material when he described the warfare of the Jin state.The thesis falls into three sections: Section one is about the principal wars in the San Jin recorded in Records of History. At the beginning, the inner war broke out frequently. From Jin WenGong to Jin DaoGong, the massive war between different countries had a deep influence on the later dynasties. In the warring States Period, Han, Zhao and Wei dynasty, reestablished their supermacy in the central plains. The peace and war between the Jin and the minorities around Jin alternated. In section two, the author analyses the reasons for the frequent war in Jin. According to Records of History, the frequent wars had close relation with the advantageous geography conditions, strong organization of political power, colourful thought, talented people, reforms and richness of San Jin. Section three is about the principles of Sima Qian's describing the warfare of Jin. He advocated the war should be based on the kindness and the way of persuading others by morals. He also held that the Strategy and tactics should be emphasized in the war. Sima Qian recorded a lot of wars in Records of History was partly due to his tune. |
