The Collation, Commentary And Study On The Collected Works Of Yan Yan-zhi

Yan Yan-zhi was a famous writer in the Southern Dynasty, and was acclaimed "three great masters of Yuan Jia" with Xie Ling-yun and Bao Zhao. He made a brilliant contribution to change the style of literary works of Jin Dynasty, and his contribution had a far-reaching influence to the literature of later ages. But his collected works hadn't been fully arranged all along, so the study on Yan Yan-zhi wasn't advanced. The situation is an imperfection while the researches into the literature of the Southern and Northern Dynasty are developing in depth.In this dissertation, we compile the Collected Works of Yan Yan-zhi anew in accordance with some clues, collate carefully with related documents, paragrphe and punctuate the works, then note and comment them. We make a research into Yan Yan-zhi himself and his works on the basis of understanding his works. We expect that it is helpful to study the literature better.The prologue mainly contains four aspects, including an account of Yan Yan-zhi's life, his ideology and the circle of friends, the content of his works, and the artistic feature.Yan Yan-zhi lived between the last years of the Jin Dynasty and the first years of the Song Dynasty, and he made an active exploration of literary creation. He served as a link between past and future, ushered in a new path and won esteem from scholars of the Southern Dynasty. So Yan Yan-zhi's creation has an important place in literature history .
