Heidegger's Thinking On Artistic Creation

The being of art and the work of art is naturally a creative being in dynamic state. Thus artistic creation is the nerve center of art, and it takes an irreplaceable position of ontology in artistic activities, artistic theories and even in the life of human beings.The Origin of the Work of Art is typical of the artistic thinking on the horizons of his ontological philosophy about happening of truth (Alethiea) during mid-Heidegger and later-Heidegger. The thinking provides an infallible sign for us and helps us to investigate the ontological status and happening condition of artistic creation. However, Heidegger's thinking of artistic creation is not only ignored quite universally, but also is misunderstood to different degrees by Aesthetic circles due to the two reasons. One reason derives from neglect of ontological importance of artistic creation, the other derives from neglect of Heidegger's thinking of artistic creation centralizing mainly in the part of "Truth and Art" of Origin.This dissertation which centers on Origin, especially centers on the part of "Truth and Art" of Origin, analyzes the contents and characteristics of Heidegger's thinking on artistic creation in his philosophy. Chapter 1 firstly points out that there is an important clue of thinking on artistic creation entangled the clue of investigating the relationship between Being and the nature of human beings, except for two overt clues of the actuality of art works and the relationship between truth and art. In accordance with the important clue, the following three chapters discuss respectively the three prescripts for the nature of artistic creation: truth, poetizing, saying.Chapter 2 mainly discusses that Heidegger expounds the intrinsic characteristic of artistic creation (includes artistic reception) related to the truth of unconcealedness (Aletheia) from following three aspects: etymology of art, the work-being of the art work and the nature of happening on truth ( Aletheia). The creative being in dynamic state of art and the work of art is an event of the becoming and happening of truth. The truth is a total explanation to contents and dynamic state characteristic of artistic creation, and it is core nature of art and artistic creation.According to Heidegger, the artistic creation is also a poetic creation. It means that the creation is the listening, the remembering, the thinking and the guarding of poet or artist related closely to truth of unconcealedness, authentic language or saying, holiness, thinking and the fourfold of earth, sky, divinities and mortals. The poetizing is anexplanation on specific contents of artistic creation. (Chapter 3)The artistic creation that Heidegger discusses is also an event of saying (Sage) related closely to poetizing. It means that whatever authentic creation of art is, all happens by language belonging to holiness, truth, poetizing and thinking. The saying is an explanation on the means or ways of artistic creation. (Chapter 4)Chapter 5 discusses that in great artistic creation that Heidegger discusses, the artist takes a original and actual position, but plays a passageway and intermediary role for the happening of the truth; the preservers (receivers) takes an actual position too, but plays a guardian and custodian role for the happening of the truth. Therefore, the artist and the preserver who distinguish and connect with each other, belong to the event of artistic creation, in which the truth plays a protagonist. They just are the listeners, the responders, the drawing-water-men, the caretakers and preservers of the creative event.Heidegger's thinking on artistic creation is not simply deprivation of the status of creators belong to artists and receivers, and doesn't propose an artistic creation having no people.
