Marriage is an important part in the mankind life, it is one of main way that we depend on to exist and multiply . multiplicity and continuity of mankind is the inexitable requirement of society . therefore study of marrage is a perpetual subject for scholer who is learning in the field of sociology, folklore and anthropology.This article is mainly study from historecal point of view , and integrate the study theory and way of sociology, folklore , philology , to anylife the marriage phenomenon of Eastern Zhou . I will try my best to promulgate some of the historical fact and social essense.To take the upwards into account, I play to discuss some of the disputed issues of the marriage etiquette and custom in Eastern Zhou on the basis of the study of predecessor . On one hand ,it affirm the old ideas and go on to demonstrate it, on the other hand , I will bring forward my new points to oppegn and refute the certain part of old ideas.This thesis will discuss it in seven part.Firstly, The part of prologue.Secondly , I think the phenomenon that the people of zhou don't marry each other of the surname isn't a simple inherit of originality marriage . It's mainly function changes , the purpose of marriage is serve for politic evidently . The phenomena of marriage of the same surname is exactly the reflection of the political aim of themselves . It disproof that the main function of marriage is the social confirmity but not prepotency.Thirdly, "Zheng" and "Bao" mrriage isn't a public household system, It's inlegal, It only exist in the life of superstratum partrician and not to be permitted by the people of that time in Eastern Zhou dynasty.Fourth , The power of marriage or divorce is controled by men, however, women also have certain self-determination . there are reasons that one woman is abandoned , but the so-called : seven improper behaviour by confucianists and there isn't come into being , and it isn't accept by society . At that time , one woman marry again is general as her divorce . The conception of chastity isn't one part of the society's moralitycontent. therefore, confucianists advocate " that woman should firm their virtue . " butin fact they don't against women's second marriage . It is the conflict of their idea--idealism and realism.Fifth , The Zhou's denasty regulates the marriage age--man of thirty , womanof twenty , it is the highest limit. People have no concept to marry at a mature age . In Dongzhou , marry is man of twenty ,woman of fifteen , or so , Marrying too early is a general phenomenon, because of the infection of society.Sixth , <> say's : " In the month of midspring , men and women could go away together without limit . " Many people take it as the leave behind custom of the original society . In fact, it is elopement, I think it is a special marriage policy adapted by dominator in order to make people marry in time to increase the total population, embodying the kindness of policy.Seventh, Summary part.
