In this paper, Lu Xun's translations are analysed from three perspectives:Firstly, a focus of literary translations on national personality. Lu xun's attempt to transform the national personality is made clear by the exposition of the reasons for his taking up literary translation in combination with his translation works. In the course of translation, he adopts foreign methods, contents and attitude in regard to the criticism of national personality; which results in the enhancement of his awareness of the problematic national personality;Secondly, his relations to art. With the formation process of his artistic understanding, the reasons, motivation and purpose for his translation of foreign art are explained, and case studies on xylographic works translated by him are selectively presented;Thirdly, his relations to Nietzsche. Lu xun's acceptance of Nietzsche in terms of thinking and sprit. An innermost feeling of loneliness is shared by both.
