Research On Ethics In Modern Medical High Techniques

The thesis is composed by two parts. In the former part, the paper discusses separately the ethic problems about high TECH in the different field of modern medicine; In the latter part , the author focuses on the commonness of ethic problem about high TECH in the whole medicine field, and puts forward suggestion to the research of modern bioethics.The present bioethics is confronted with complicated and sophisticated problems. Many latest researches, such as auxiliary reproduction, organ transplantation, gene research, study of human stem cell, cloning and euthanasia all involve profound ethic problems. Bioethics has aroused more and more attention, and researchers in other fields begin to set foot in it, infusing new blood and bringing development and challenge into this field. The occurrence of this, on the one hand, is because ethic problems are inherently embedded in various activities of modern medical high TECH. Introspective people will inevitably be interested in, pay close attention to and feel nervous and anxious about it. On the other, our society has been in a transforming process. The problems of bioethics have become urgent and prominent, while the field of ethics in China is comparatively weak and not compatible with the developing situation. Somepeople even criticize that "to some extent, the hope of ethics is outside its circle". Professor He Huaihong said in his Bottomline Ethics, "Although I specializes in ethics, I'm not quite opposed to this claim but encouraged and enlightened by it. I myself often set foot outside ethics to get nutrition from other disciplines." The confusion to ethic problems in modern biotechnology will have no value to practical or theoretical problems if it is only kept on the surface. So this paper will make a serious and matter-of-fact research on life and death in modern medical high TECH from an ethic angle. It will take ethic theories as the criteria to study the moral phenomena, questions, relationships and norms in medical fields, and analyze the heated topics and focal events in modern medical high TECH with a focus on the ethic problems.The aim of our study is to make a cautious analysis of concrete and particular fields so as to generalize the ethic categories and laws which should be followed in the theory and practice in modern medical high TECH. We are trying to contribute in our power to the construction, development and improvement of the ethic ideological system adapting to modern medical high TECH. The former part of this paper is a review of the great events happened in past decades and the relative ethic problems, which influenced bio-science and biotechnology significantly. The representative modern medical high techniques are analyzed thoroughly at an angle of ethics. In the investigation of reproductive technique, the ethic problems are studied in three aspects: prenatal selection, birth control and auxiliary reproduction. We analyze the prominent ethic dispute in the application of reproductive technique and find out the major ethic problems of it. The primary reason why the application of reproductive technique is not up to standard and even infringes ethic principles is that the ethic standards have notgrown in pace of the technique. The ethic criteria are comparatively lagging. Therefore, a medical researcher should always care about the influence of his achievement on the society, the shock of reproductive technique to the classical concept of "life", and the guiding, adjusting and controlling function of ethic restraint on the development of reproductive technique. An effective way to ensure the participation of ethic criteria throughout the whole process of reproduction research is to set up independent ethic investigation committee and strictly perform relative systems of examination and approval about experiments, researches and manipulations.
