There are four chapters altogether. The author makes a research of the cultural connotation in the songs and dances at the sacrificial rites for the godess Nu wa -the mother of Chinese nation. The research is made from the angles of linguistic, folklor, literatura and art aesthetics and annals of drama.In the first chapter, the author firstly offers a collection and cultural anylises of "Dauble Flowers Game" - today's sacrificial songs and dances, The author pointed out: 1. "Double Flower Game" was historic poetry originated from Yellow River kasin -the origin place of Chinese Han nation 2. It was a distinguished gathering of folk songs passeddown on generation by generation. 3. The author makes a research to the problem of "body attached by spirit" by materialism. 4. The author gives historical and social reasons why femal's ability and wisdom dominated in "Double Flower Game".Secondly, the author gives a linguistic explanation to the cultural style "Feng" and studies of the origin and developing stem of the sacorfieial songs and dances in "NU wa city" 1. The author points out the family name "Feng" and the symble "snake with a human head "implicated snake ,and explains the essence and social base of the totemism of dragon worship of femal and phallicism, and sexy and sexual life was expressed in these folk songs and dances. 2. "Feng" implicated "sexual dance" which evoluted every dance.In the second chapter, there is a collections of the folk song arrying the Flowering Basket," The author gives a reachfrom fhree aspect of this folk song: 1. Using poetry and styles and knowledge of "switch" and "dance", the author points out that the folk song arrying the Flowering Basket" was originated the stories of the in dependent femal god , Nu wa, who was the supreme. God in the period of Martriachal Society. 2. Author studies the stories of Nu wa and lay Dog". And talk about the evolution of the story that Nu wa changed from the dominating god into the wife of her brother and the mother of all Chinese nation. 3. The author pointed out that the primitive cultural connotation had the same essence with the worship of NU Wa.In the third chapter, there is a pessimistic aesthetic anylises of the phraseology ofthe folk sacrificial songs. 1 .Tragic song was the main character of the songs to NU wa city. The author explains the origin of the primitive religion and tragedy. 2. Learning from themiserable life expressed in the words of the song, the author offers its historical reason. 3. In the folk song, human keings was praised as lofty and sublime by human's hard working against natural disasters.4. There was a confidence of human's rictory against nature in these folk songs.In the last chapter, the author draws a conclusion that the sacrificial songs developed together with the local folk songs.l.From "Yu Ren Dance" to "Mai Xiu Song" the Sacrificial Songs originated from the ancient myth and legeney of Shang Dynasty.2.The author gives the historical development of the sacrificial songs and local folk songs.3.The famous character of local social drama are very popular according to public praise.4.The author any live the aesthetic, art and social culture value of the saerifical songs from the angle of jargon and cant.In the foreword of this book, there is a brief introduction to NU wa City and the sacrificial songs and dances.
