| Morpheme is an indispensable part in the study of modern Uighur Lexicology ,as it plays an important role in the research of Uighur word meaning and word formation .But at present,there is still a long way to go in the study in this field.The author developed her own view in reference to lots of achievements by some scholars in the article. This article is a complete analysis of modem Uighur morpheme.There are five chapters in the essay.Chapter I is the introduction ,treating with the current situation and the significance of Uighur morpheme study.The study method and content are also included. Among them,the current situation is the focus and is mainly analysed in three aspects: i, Details about the introducing of morpheme into Uighur study.The word "morpheme" derives from the structural linguistics. It's actually used in Chinese study in 1 940. In the field of Chinese grammar, people first acknowledged character as morpheme. Since 1960's, " morpheme" has gradually come into Uighur study.According to several typical works about Uighur study,people inclined to see morpheme in the same way, a traditional way.In recent years,people made further study of it,making a lot of achievements .But some weakness- are also exposed . ii. Accomplishment made in the study of Uighur morpheme.First,classifying it in a new deliberate way.Second, beginning to distinguish some different terms precisely.Third, startling to seek the principle and sequence of morpheme formation.SH fUt-S-fr iSiS*** 5? 2002 *??6Fourth,making a first step to study the morpheme evolution in view of diachronist. iii. Problems:First,While defining morpheme,people hold different opinions as to its basic characteristic,some regard it as word formation unit,others as word meaning unit or grammar unit. There should only one be chosen. Second, people don't always keep one view of morpheme,sometimes considering it as a part of a word, sometimes mixed it with word. Third, some people think that morpheme's function lies in word formation.Fourth,piople make poor analysis while dealing with complex problems produced in the morpheme division. As to the part about the significance of modem Uighur morpheme study ,the author made a simple explanation about how it affects lexilogogy,morphology, syntactics, semantics, word formation and acknowledgement of genus of agglutinatibe language. The part about study method and content is about the main way applied in the article and the main content related.Chapter II ,Morpheme division,a statement about its theory and method,Morpheme is the smallest combination of meaning and pronounciation and it has three characteristics ?the existences of meaning and pronounciation;it's the smallest combination of meaning and prounciation.The means applied in the process of morpheme division is usually substituting by one similiar in form. In the process, something special are often involved.The chapter gives some examples and offers the way to do with it.The basic principle is to face the current situation.Chapter III ,Classification of morpheme according to its formations, sources,meanings and functions.lt is the centre of the essay,details are as following:2002^-6^First, according to its formations, morpheme can be classified as single morpheme,compound morpheme,bound morpheme and mixed morpheme. Single morpheme refers to the one with very simple formation.lt can not be divided whether seeing from history or from current situation. Compound morpheme means a formation unit with two or more morphemes harmoniously combined to fonn an intact whole in meaning.lt stands for a new term. Bound morpheme derives from historic word formed by two morphemes. After evolusion,one or two morphemes are no longer morphemes,causing both to lose their independences which in return resulting in the formation of a single unit in today's synchronic system.However,no sound change happenes.Mixed morpheme is a complete single unit.Historically it is a word made up of two morphemes ?compound word and de...
