On The Great Leap Forward Movement Of Henan Province

Having completed the First Five-Year Plan, the Chinese Communist Party launched the Great Leap Forward movement guided by the thought of impatience for success. The Great Leap Forward of Henan province was at the forefront of the movement from the beginning to the end, which caused great losses to Henan province and produced bad influence all over the country. Undoubtedly, comprehensive research on the Great Leap Forward of Henan province, and the summary of its benefits and losses will be of positive significance for the socialist construction cause of Henan province today.The thesis consists of three parts.The first part gives a full retrospection of the process of the Great Leap Forward of Henan province. The movement is divided into three stages: The first stage is the "rise and climax" period of the movement (from May, 1958 to November, 1958). The article mainly discusses the situation of the Anti-Rightist movement, the Great Leap Forward in industry, agriculture, education and art, and the People's Communization movement; The second stage is the period of the preliminary correction of the mistakes in the Great Leap Forward of Henan province (from November, 1958 to July, 1959). The article analyses the rectification of the People's Commune and adjustment of economic goals; The third stage refers to the further development and termination of the movement (from August, 1959 to early 1961). In this period, Henan pushed on the movement after the Anti-Right Deviation movement and ceased in severe difficulties.The second part points out the achievements and serious consequences of the Great Leap Forward of Henan province. The achievements of the movement are relatively limited in industry, agriculture, transportation and so on, yet it resulted in terrible losses and damages to economy, politics, people's life, ideology and so on.The third part analyses in depth the reasons of Kenan's serious Left Deviation in the movement and summarizes some valuable experiences and lessons through the introspection of the Great Leap Forward of Henan province.
