This paper intends to inspect the ideological and cultural origine, backgrounds and develoment of the theses on Chinese painting, trying to avoid abstract generalization in an oversimplified way. First the paper traces the root and evolution of the theory of "Shi" () and "Qi"()and probes into the compicated culture origine of the "Shi-Qi"() Theory combiring with sociological description. Then the paper dicusses how the relevant theoratical preparations were made step by step from Xiehe() in Nan Dynasty() who put forward his "Shiti"() Theory to Yuan Dynasty when "Shi-Qi" Theory was established ,and how the "Shi-Qi" Theory died out. The "Shi-Qi" Theory is not a strict concept but a part of historical development and has it's origine and variation. So we can comprehend some unremitting effors made by Chinises scholars from indirect historical sources:Some transcendental spiritual intention and the realization of it's value should be bore by painting.
