A Probe Into Tramp Music In Jianghuai Area

There are quite a lot of beggars tramping around Jianghuai area in Anhui Province, out of natural, historical and social reasons, among whom Fengyang beggars are best known. Tramp music, as we know, is often heard among beggars when they are begging around. In Jianghuai area, it includes many different styles like folk songs, singing and speaking, drama and instrumental music, ect. The music spreads widely along with the trails of beggars and mingles with other folk music. It embodies the speciality of the fransition from west-east to north-south in melodies. It's lyrics are three kinds of social forces engaged in it, who are tramping out of different purposes. The customs are noticed permeating the tramp music, which has quite a lasting ingluence. Tramp music in this area agrees with human touch and morality of the grassroots, which keeps it going on and developing.
