| Modernism, also named as æˆodernist school?or æ³vant-garde? is a literary trend of irrationalism and anti-rationalism which thrived when western countries (especially Europe) rapidly developed into monopolistic imperialism from the free competition capitalism and reached its peak in 19~ century. Its influence is penetrating all over the world. The literary trend of modernism was introduced to China very early and has affected the change and development of Chinese modernism literature a lot. The nec-sensualism, which arose in Shanghai from late 1920抯 to early 1930抯 is a literary trend deeply influenced by Japanese neo-sensualism. its acceptance experienced the process of choosing, deviating and assimilating. On the one hand, complying with the requirement of epoch and art development, the neo-sensualism led the new mode of thought by running book stores, and accepted the elements of modernism. They abandoned the traditional way of writing, resorting to the senses as the core of artistic creation. They presented a Shanghai in their own eyes through the contrast of licentiousness and struggle, and æ•imely described the modern mood of modem people in modern life? This literary trend made a peculiar V contribution in accelerating the multiplicity of metropolis literary style. On the other hand, there appeared deviations in the process of accepting. Reading through their literary works, we can deeply feel the potential function of the national tradition. Nec-sensualism showed the tendency of coming back to tradition in theme and technique respectively. This paper focuses on the nec-sensualism抯 acceptance of modernism, and studies the basic manifestation, characteristics, reasons for deviation and historical enlightenment occurred when this literary trend, and even the whole Chinese writing group accepted modernism. |
