First Nations, is the special and typical name for those native people of Canada and their descendants. Nowadays, they don't like themselves to be called as Indians rather than First Nation People, by which as an occupied name that they came to the land of Canada firstly. This is a distinct people with unique histories, languages, cultural practices and spiritual beliefs. Though they're ancient people to live on this land, they are marginal people to some extent. Their communities are located in urban, rural and remote locations across Canada, generally located on lands called reserves. Nowadays, they are increasingly drawing people's attention and calling for best solutions from either government or international world. The introduction deals with the overview of Canadian First Nations'history in Canada. Chapter one will focus on the history of the First People in Canada: Where is the name from? How is their early life like? What is the current situation of this group? Further, I will proceed to add their early life and language families into consideration thus provide a brief introduction. In Chapter two, my research will focus on the conflicts between native people and Canadian mainstream society. First of all, at the beginnings of the cultural interaction, they showed their trust and respect, treated them kindly and hospitably and the"real whites"(name from Native people to the Europeans) did not interfere with them nor attempted to break up or tribal organizations, laws, and customs. Later, the relationship between the First Nation People and dominant society changed, contradiction occurred as in the aspect of status, land and education.Chapter three will scale down to the fresh tendency for the First Nation people to be merged with and their pathway out of the contradiction, three major points were reached here, self-government, educational self-determination and some new achievements. This was a long process; both sides of the First Nation People and the Federal Government are trying their best to put more efforts to improve the relationship, and to improve the condition the First Nation People lived, educated and worked, however, this progress is subtle. This has been a long time and there are so many detailed problems that the federal government is not able to make it as they wish.Chapter four offers certain presentation and analysis of different policies that affects the relationship between them of different periods. The conclusion is a further analysis and summarization of the topic we elaborated in the chapters.
