Population aging is prominent social phenomenon of the 21st century. Spiritual life is more and more concerned at the same time of material life level increases. But the spirit of the old people after retirement life is often neglected; they are often troubled by lost and lonely, so their spiritual life need rich and full, and the music largely can satisfy this demand.The elderly group of Zhuozhou city is a mass organization consists of variety of forms such as dramas, songs, instrument playing and dancing. The existence and development of the group greatly satisfy the need of the culture and art life of the old people and help the elderly maintain the good life attitude and mental outlook.This topic with group's music activities as the breakthrough point see through music social function from sociology, older psychology, sociology, and ethnomusicology. To accomplish this subject research, the author investigated many music activities of older art of Zhuozhou city several times and mastered much informative firsthand material. This paper summarizes the function of elderly art, Puts forward existing problems at the present stage of elderly group and the benign development thinking, through analysis and research on the background, present situation and art activities of the art, in the purpose of emphasize the importance of music to the old people and the necessity of development of older music culture, provide feasible suggestions for the older group benign development at the same time.
