The Interpretation Of Wang Yangming's Doctrine

The habitude of mind is a core issue in the history of chinese philosophy.From Confucius,the founder of the Confucianism,after Mencius,Lu Jiuyuan,to Wang Yangming,every one of them put an emphasis on self-Mind, and placed it in the primacy status in the cultivation of morality.When it developed to Wang Yangming,he raised"self-Mind"to the ontological status.He proposed a doctrine including four sencence:"neither good nor evil is the essence of heart,good and evil are the moving of intention,the conscience can judge which is good or evil,and it has methods to abandon the evil so as to keep the good",he elucidates the issue of the mind which based on the doctrine.The proposing of the doctrine was relevance to the reality.It was produced in a special historical, culture and social background,in the dynasty of Mid-Ming,the Neo-Confucianism suffocated the culture and it had getting more and more decadence,the contradiction between the different hierarchy was growing and became apparently.In this case,he proposed the doctrine through which we can further explore its historical value and social significance. At that time, the peasant uprising was frequently,Yangming participated in suppressing the movement many times,he issued that"a thief in the mountains can be easily broken, but it is difficult to break the thieves that in heart", so he put an emphasis on the recalling of moral consciousness.Yangming payed more attention to remedy the moral heart, he maintain that"as long as the thieves in the heart be broke, the thieves in mountains can disappear naturally,in this way,the problem can be solved easily.This is his exploration of social practice, in fact,he aimed to harmony the society by way of moral cultivation.Yangming's doctrine aimed at remedy the heart,"the nature is similar,but the performance distinct far",this is caused by the depravation of the heart.In the surroundings that good moral and bad habits mixed together, rebuilding the conscience of moral would surely have significance to the purification of moral.As soon as the doctrine proposed,it caused a fierce debate between his two disciples which called"Tianquan sermon".This paper analyzed the focus of this debate.In addition, after Yang Ming, Liu Jishan put forward his different views on the doctrine.This part also involved the different ideas that between them.The study of his doctrine can not only help us understand the meaning of Wang Yangming's theory,but also clarified the controversy,it is of great value in the philosophy. Yangming's doctrine integrate various views, his ideas have a relationship with Confucianism and Buddhism.Although it just has four sentences,this doctrine briefly but highly enriched his ontology, epistemology, ethics and practice theory.This article discussed the the kernel of spirit. First,it briefly analysised how the doctrine was proposed and the controversy it caused.Besides,the time when the doctrine been proposed, the controversy between his two disciples and the difference between Wang Yangming and Liu Jishan also been discussed.In the main part,it focused on the meaning of the doctrine and explained the first sentence in three angles.Then he demonstrated the last sentence separately,in which involves"the mind is the justice","expand the conscience","Knowledge and Action always come together"and so on.In the Last part ,it try to awaken the moral consciousness and explain the enlightenment of it to the moral construction in nowadays,it adviced to refere the positive factors in the doctrine to promote the construction of moral.While this subject based on Wang Yangming's idea, but during which also involves the Neo-Confucian's thought. Therefore,this paper attempts to explore the useful factors in the doctrine by a combination methods,so as to solve the problems of modern moral.It try to understand the text in a specific situation in society,it also try to communicate the past and present,in order to excavate the moral core that contains in the doctrine.In the way of interpretation,it mainly aim to solve the dilemmas in moral which the man facing in nowadays,and want to seek wisdom and inspiration resources.Based on the predecessors's study,it also strive to annotate the philosophical problems in order to turn the abstract doctrine clearly.The doctrine is not only a philosophical question, but a social problems.In short,the doctrine played an important role in the moral construction in late Ming Dynasty,it provides a useful reference to the moral construction.In this paper,the moral effort was interpretated in a comprehensive way, I hope this work can provide a new perspective and resources to save the moral crisis and the traditional cultural.
