Contemporary Chinese American writer, Maxine Hong Kingston's works have always been the bestseller of American literature. Her works are also the hot research of Chinese American literature. As a Chinese American woman, the differences of race, gender and culture background make a barrier between Maxine Hong Kingston and American predominant. Her status and position atracted particular attention. The main topics of her novels such as"ghost","silence"and"the mother and the daughter"reflected the Chinese American's deep inner changes of thoughts. These typical topics that contained the special experiences as an American Chinese were the products of Sino-us cultural interactions, which have been given expression intensively not only in Maxine Hong Kingston's novels but also in the novels of other Chinese American female writers. This paper aims at integrating and researching Maxine Hong Kingston's novels, and discussing several topics of her novels in different periods. Maxine Hong Kingston's novels reflected the social position of American Chinese women, explored the split of their identities, and showed inner inheritance and external survival pressure. Meanwhile, this paper also tried to discovers series of resistance strategies for the hegemony of mainstream culture.
