Historical Narration In The Novels Of Anita Desai

Anita Desai is one of the most eminent and distinguished Indian English writers today. Her writings have attracted most extensive critical attention in india and abroad.However,the research on her in China is just underway.so,it is very necessary to analyze and evaluate her novels to us. Anita Desai started writing at the age of seven and received attention with her first novel in 1963.Since then,she is keeping writing along with the progree of Indian.Anita Desai focuses on dilemmas and predicaments of middle-class family relationships of Indian, to mirror the multidimensional reality in all its concours. Desai uses her powerful sensibilities to observe life and to describe characters. Protagonist in Desai's fiction always suffered psychological problems, from which the surroundings of protagonists.There are three chapters aside from the introduction and conclusion. The first chapter analyze that most of the protagonists from a middle-class family of Indian, who have witnessed the progress of Indian in the past years. With the development of Indian's economy,the family relationships also have changed. The second chapter explores that the space, in Anita Desai'novels, had took a important role in the narration. The third chapter represent that the protagonists traverses the path of self-alienation and self-assertion, which reflected her own sense of time and space.Finally, the Conclusion represent that the sense of space-time have great influence on Anita Desai's narrative about history of indian. Additionally, the sense of time originated from Indian traditionaly cultures which has substantially effect on the transtion of protagonists from self-alienation to self-assertion.
