Study Of The Idioms In "Shiji"

"Shiji" is an important historical literature which studys Qin Han Language and the history of chinese language, with a transitional significance. Sima qian absorbed, concluded, and used the folk language and written language creatively. In this way, the language in "Shiji" is unique, forming hundreds of idioms over years. In this paper, the idioms in "Shiji" are studied systermatically through quantitative and qualitative analysis. Altogether five hundred sixty-eight idioms are concluded, and interpreted with examples.In this paper, the distribution of five idomatic styles of "Shiji" are sensused by number. The further study of origin and formation of the idioms shows:one of the most important resourse comes from historical documents and hundreds of ancient classic works, and Sima Qian either inherited or refined the language when using the resourses, forming more than 100 idioms; the main resourse of the idioms are formed by "Shiji" itself, these idioms or directly from the original sentence, or from interception of the original sentence, or from a variety of text processing. Finally, this paper analysed the effect and the reflected thoughts of the idioms in"Shiji".After the founding of People's Republic of China, study of the idiomatic sourse of "Shiji" achieved a lot, but it is not systematic and in-depth. This paper carry out the study of idioms in "Shiji", with the help of previous study, intending furthering the acurate study of number and resouses of the idioms in "Shiji", probing the thoughts and ideas that's in it. I hope I can contribute my effort in the thouroughly and deeply study of this great work, and offer useful material for the development of Chinese lexics.
