As the last Mongolia khan, Ligdan was enthroned in the childhood, and reserved ten years and strolled fight twenty years for the unification of Mongolia. In order to change Mongolia's political situation from collapse to order, Ligdan Khan tried his best to reform in many ways. At last, he ended his political life by fleeing Qinghai and died there, which was considered as a tragedy. Many scholars have discussed the reasons of Ligdan Khan's failure from political, economic and military perspective, but most of the discussion remained in the surface or one aspect of the problem. So it is necessary to pay more an attention on this issue. Besides, in resent years much of the related raw archives and other primary sources were published, which provided a great convenience for the study of this project.The development of things depends fundamentally on internal causes, so this thesis intends to analysis the problem from the following internal aspects: personality flaws, administration failure and Mongolia's political, economic and military condition at that time. The main body of the thesis consists of four parts. In the first part, the author summarized the situation of Mongolia and neighboring states in the early 17th century. Secondly, the author narrated Ligdan Khan's biographical event as a bedding for the following analysis. The remaining two parts are the core of the thesis; the author suggests that Mongolia's political, economic and military condition at that time is the objective causes of Ligdan Khan's failure. Moreover, personality flaws and administration failure of the protagonist also played an important role in his failure.
