Boundary Thought In Bahktin's Discourse Research About Novel

Former discussion at academic circles about Bahktin's discourse theory always focused their attentions on his metalinguistics theory or research about polyphonic novel, but neglected his entire discourse research. In fact, his achievement in this field was very considerable, ranged from miscellaneous style to folk discourse and so on. This paper would give a detailed analysis and a holistic study about Boundary thought in Bahktin's discourse research about novel.Boundary thought was an important point of view at early stage of Bahtin's philosophical thought,and ran through his entire research course in the field of literature science and linguistics.But this angle was neglected at the academic circles.In Bahktin's opinion, the culture existed at the boundary, and it was the discourse that was the boundary between ego and others. The formation conditions of boundary were different but independent Individuals. Concreting to the early stage of Bahktin's ideological; it originated from distinguishing between ego and others. Everyone would actively participate in the world, however everyone preferred to construct his "world" with egocentricity inevitability, in other worlds, entire world existed in the one's world and others'world. So the boundary consciousness germinated from the consciousness about others'existence that you can't force and conquer or even deeply understand others, so others do. However, interdependence of our existence forced you to communicate with others at junctions. Discourse was the behavior pattern in the boundary's communication. Concreting to the discourse theory, it was distinguishing between ego's discourse and others'discourse, so the novels were full of struggle among many different discourse.The exordium section summarized the research status in domestic and the ideological background.Chapter 1 discussed philosophical foundation of Bahktin's boundary thought which was distinguishing between ego and others. The boundary consciousness originated from the consciousness about distinguishing, which had a close connection with the view about "existence is event",obligation, participating thinking and other philosophical theory. Chapter 2 investigated miscellaneous style which existed in the novels, since different social consciousness led to different ways of expression.So the novels were always fulled of different opinion voice instead of unified one. Chapter 3 explored sources of novels——"folk discourse". Folk discourse was an independent ideology which existed beyond the boundary of official discourse in the form of parody or ridicule. Chapter 4 studied dialogue mode in the novels. Interlocution on an equal basis was an important behavior patterns at the boundary. Generally speaking, interlocution can be divided into double-discourse and polyphony (or "microcosmic interlocution and macroscopic interlocution") which enlivened at the boundary. The last chapter described the relationship between boundary thought and modernity. Modernity brought about not only production condition of boundary thought, but also mature disseverance. Interlocution can make up for the deficiency of the disseverance and also incarnate behavior patterns at the boundary.
