Jesuit Joao da Rocha came from Portugal. He arrived in China in the late Ming Dynasty. He carried out his missionary work in China for 26 years. After Matthaeus Ricci went to Beijing, Joao da Rocha stayed in Nanjing to continued his Catholic mission. And then, he founded Catholic Church in Jianchang, Jiading and Zhangzhou,in Zhejiang and Fujian Provinces. The main works of Joao da Rocha in Chinese were listed as follows:"Tian Zhu Sheng Xiang Lue Shuo", "Tian Zhu Sheng Jiao Qi Meng" and "Song Nian Zhu Gui Cheng". He was an important missionary in the history of Catholic in China and the cultural exchange between China and the West in the late Ming Dynasty. In this thesis. I will investigate the life and the works in Chinese of Joao da Rocha, and also present an objective estimation of Joao da Rocha.
