The Ming Dynasty is an important historical period of the development of mining industry in the ancient Chinese, because of the coal mining industry in succession on the basis of previous generations, the region, scale, technology and so on various aspects of the coal mining had the obvious development and the progress compared with before, the coal of applications scope is also more widespread in the social production life, and become an important commodities on the markets and played an important role in social economic. Huang-Huai region as one of the earliest areas of coal mining of exploitation in our country history, played an important role in the coal mining industry in the Ming Dynasty, and has made significant contributions to the social economic. Thus, this article has done the research to the development of coal and relevant problems of Huang-Huai region in the Ming Dynasty from the perspective of historical geography. Firstly, this article expounded the geographical scope, political survey and natural geographical survey of Huang-Huai region in the Ming Dynasty, by the foundation which studies as this article, then reviewed and discussed the development survey of the coal mining of Huang-Huai region before the Ming Dynasty, the historical process of coal mining development in the Ming Dynasty, and all sorts of factors to affect the distribution of coal mining, such as society, natured and so on, and has made the analysis to the coal's transportation and sale about the Huang-Huai region, this article also selected Dengzhou, Suzhou region as a case of coal mining to analysis. Finally, this article also analyzed and discussed the coal mining of Huang-Huai region which brought to all kinds of consequences of the local natural and social environment in the Ming Dynasty.
