"Is Ignorance The Virtue Of Women"?

The early period of Qing dynasty is a flourishing period for the development of the talented women's culture, however, there were two totally different attitudes toward the creation of women among scholars that time. As a matter of fact, this discrimination was originated from the view of female capacity and virtue. In the eyes of traditional thinking, the ignorance is the virtue for women. Thus the scholars with traditional thinking were highly involved with the affair against female creation to preserve the virtue. In contrast, some scholars who has been affected by novel thinking held the idea that beauty and capacity are the two vital characters of women, consequently they encouraged the women to engage on the creation of art and literature. There is no doubt that this novel thinking allows female to gain more freedom in civil right and creation. However, those two above-mentioned thinking were all based on the male-dominate thinking deep inside. The creation and living of female individuals were influenced by the attitude of scholars in some degree.
