There have been some literary associations in the history.According to some statistics, the first recorded poets'club is found in the end of Tang Dynasty, and the number apparently arised in the Song Dynasty. Especially in the South Song, because of the prosperity of political and economic development, the literati were eager to join those literature clubs, accordingly the Ci club sprang up at a high speed. This paper tries to analyze the social and cultural background of the Ci club in South Dynasty, which is also the research object of this paper, so as to verify the impacts of Ci club on the writing of Ci in South Song. The analysis will surrounded the points of the general situation of Ci club in South Song dynasty, its features of activity, and the member constitution, as well as the textual research into certain vital Ci clubs.The paper has four chapters. The first chapter investigates the social and cultural background of the literati's association. Surrounded the prosperity of city life in South Song dynasty, the popularity of manufacturing associations and the characteristics of Ci, this paper explores the reason for the prosperity of association munufaturing. The second chapter is the overall outline of Ci club in South Song dynasty, discussing from the development, the features, and members of Ci club. The third chapter studies several vital Ci club in the chronological order,among these clubs there are Lilao club in the beginning of Song dynasty, the Jianghu Ci Club in the middle of South Song dynasty, and the Xihu Reading Club active in the middle and end of South Song dynasty. From distinct perspectives, this paper investigates into these associations in order to give an overall view about the activities of Ci clubs in South Song dynasty. The fourth chapter researches into the Ci produced by those clubs, from the perspectives of the impacts on the subject matter, on the transmission of the fuctions of Ci and on the foundation of Rhythm School. The last chapter studies the influences from the Ci clubs on the literature history.
