| Clay sculpture in China is an ancient common folk art; it can be traced back to the Neolithic age more than 7000 years ago. In the long development of human art, clay sculpture takes an important position. Through a hundred years development by the craftsmen in the past dynasties, it has left innumerable excellent works. No matter the statues in the desert grottos or the colorful small sculptures in the temple, or all sorts of minitype tomb figures, none of which give people a visible enjoyment. What's more, both the strokes and the colour fully represent the unique aesthetic interests of the Chinese traditional art.This paper consists of four chapters. The first chapter expounds the origin and development history of Xiu Shan clay figurine Li's clay sculptures.Dating back to the last years of Qing dynasty, the first generation Mao gong Li of clay figurine Li passed this skill to his successors. Until now the successor is the third generation xiu Shan Li. It has been inherited more than 110 years in Zhecheng, Henan province and it has been Henan intangible cultural heritage.It said that environment affects people's nature. Different districts have different features of social customs and cultures. Thus, the clay sculpture in each district has its similar and difference in the theme, modeling and color.In the second chapter, this paper analyses xiu Shan clay figurine Li's clay sculptures'features of modeling , and compares it with the other clay sculpture schools from their themes, modelings and colors . In this article the author compares it with fengxiang clay sculptures of Shaanxi, clay figurine Zhang of Tianjin and Mount Hui clay sculptures of Suzhou. In the third chapter, the author summarizes the cultural deposits of clay figurine Li from its original culture, folk-custom culture, religion culture and social culture. In the last chapter, the author analyses the value and protest of xiu Shan clay figurine Li's clay sculpture from its education and appreciation of beauty and summarizes the aesthetic of xiu Shan clay figurine Li's clay sculpture from four aspects of practicality and teleonomy, emotionality and tradition.In the epilogue the author discusses the art value of clay figurine Li's clay sculptures, generalizes the development of clay sculpture, and appeals people paying more attention on the folk of non-material cultural heritage.The main point of penetration of this paper is the comparison of clay figurine Li's clay sculptures'art features with the other schools'. In order to enrich and enhance the readers'understanding of this paper, the author seriously analyses exclusive interview record of the protagonist and digs out its artistic features. Through analyzing the art works'image, this paper presents the art works'value of culture and appreciation. And it is necessary to protect and value the non-material cultural heritage.
