In the era of rapidly economic development, those ancient historical humanism and cultural essence have gradually flowed into the rolling current of modernization drive; the poetic language and picturesque thoughts and feelings are fading from people's spiritual life, which is also facing an embarrassed and exhausted dilemma. Furthermore, the extraordinary imagination, originality and preference for the colorful world in our childhood have left us little by little. But fortunately, by means of translating, we can introduce those brilliant English children's poems to our nation, so that our readers can acquire the same appreciation and enjoyment as the original works'readers do. And more importantly, we can seek the long-expected purity and pleasure that we've lost for a long time. The thesis places the theory of functional equivalence and aesthetic principles into the practical translation of English children's poems and puts forward two hypotheses to pursue and demonstrate the importance and significance of the theories. As one branch of English poems, English children's poems also need to follow the rules of functional equivalence and aesthetic principles as well in their translation course. This thesis not only pays attention to the three following principles as equivalences in meaning, style and readers'responses which are primarily discussed by functional equivalence, but also focuses more on other equivalences such as in rhyme, in rhythm, in tone, in images and in reading feelings which are exceptional for children's poems. Moreover, except those basic aesthetic theories, this thesis gives more inks to the characteristics of children's language, the aesthetic preference of children's poems and the symmetric aesthetics of translation of English children's poems. Most importantly, this thesis emphasizes the aesthetic expression and reproduction in the translating process of English children's poems. In terms of methodology, on the basis of qualitative research, the thesis makes full advantage of many methods like quotations, examples, hypotheses, inferences, analyses and deductions and etc. to support the major theories above-mentioned.
