The Research Of Qiu Country Dialect Folk Lexicon

Although Chinese dialects have been studied for more than 2000 years, traditional dialectology pays more attention to the studies on pronunciation and grammar, however, studies on dialect lexicon are far from enough on one hand; on the other, traditional dialectology seldom touches upon other disciplines neither. Remarkable progresses have been made in this field these years. Especially, studies on dialects and folkways draw more and more attention and masses of research articles have been produced. However, it still has a long way to go no matter on width and depth. It is necessary to make a comprehensive and multi-angle analysis on the dialect lexicon of a certain place as well as its folk vocabulary. With an eye to the situation, according to its folkways, this thesis, beginning from the weakest section, makes a comprehensive analysis on the folk lexicon and phrases in Qiu County dialect.Through static and dynamic methods, this thesis analyses the characteristics and evolution rules of the folk lexicon and phrases on Qiu County dialect by comparing with mandarin and the dialect of its neighbor county. At the same time, by combining synchronic description and diachronic retraces, this thesis takes folk lexicon on weddings and funerals as an example to explore the rich cultural legacy it contains, in order to make a further understanding of Qiu County dialect. The author hopes this thesis can apply some reference to the further studies of Hebei dialects, history, as well as its culture, and offer some evidences for the development of the newly appeared interdisciplinary subject in our country, that is, the study on regional dialect and dialectology.This thesis consists of four parts.IntroductionThis part mainly introduces the general situation of Qiu County dialect, including its geography and population as well as historical evolution, and demonstrates the research status and research methods of dialects and folkways in our country as well as that of folk lexicon in Qiu County.Chapter One Review of Folk Lexicon in Qiu CountyIn this chapter, the author firstly introduces the concept, range and classification of folkways, then enumerates the particular folk lexicon according to the classification in folklore research, in the hope of getting a general grasp of folk lexicon in Qiu County, so as to further the understanding of folk lexicon in Qiu County.Chapter Two Characteristics of Folk Lexicon in Qiu CountyIn this chapter the author, in the statical perspective, mainly analyses the morphology and semantic characteristics of the folk lexicon in Qiu County, its loading mounds to folklore, and the reasons for the folk lexicon. In addition, in this chapter and the fourth chapter, the author only introduces the folklores with particular characteristics and those with different names and contents, and does not involve the same folklores in general in the north.Chapter Three Folk Lexicon in Weddings and FuneralsThis chapter basically from coined words psychology, folk meaning and folk words towatch the load mode folk custom vocabulary the relationship of folk culture.Chapter Four Folk Lexicon in Weddings and FuneralsThis chapter adopts the combination of synchronic description and diachronic retraces. It contains the detailed description and analysis of marriage system, marriage discussion and wedding ceremony in wedding customs, and obsequies customs, burial customs and worship customs in the funeral customs. Besides, it also adopts comparison method. Wedding folk lexicon in contemporary Qiu County is compared with that in 23 years (1934) in diachronic comparison method, in order to show the influence of social development on dialects and folkways. While the folk lexicon in Qiu County dialects is compared with that in other regions in synchronic comparison method.The last chapter is a conclusion. It makes a conclusion to the researches of folk lexicon in Qiu County dialects. By collecting and analysis of the folk lexicon in Qiu County dialects, the author gets some distinctive features of it in word formation and semantic as well as other aspects. At last the author lists several aspects of her efforts in thesis writing.
