The Study Of The Five Dynasties Imperial Examinations System

Based on these works which fully display the imperial examinations in the Five Dynasties and Ten States Period,this thesis deals with the reform of imperial examinations in the Five Dynasties from three aspects:the purpose and content of examinations, the prevention of fraud and the adjustment of relationships between the candidates and the examiners.Meanwhile, this thesis elaborates on a novel situation which meant imperial examinations took place not only in the Central Plains but also southern Ten States.And the outlets of some candidates who passed the examinations is involed in this paper.So we come to a conclusion that the imperial examinations in the Five dynasties and Ten States Period played an important part in the transformation of examination systems from Tang to Song Dynasty,what's more,parts of the imperial examinations in Song Dynasty inherited the results of reforms in the Five dynasties completely. Furthermore,the imperial examinations in southern Ten States were one of expressions which stood for the movement of centres of culture to the South.
