Research On GuangZhou Nansha Ballads

Nansha District, located in southeastern Guangzhou and the geographic center of the Pearl River Delta, spearheads the city's development and southward industrial expansion. Today, the development is keeping pace with the inheritance as well as the coexistence of tradition and opening in this district. And as local songs, Nansha ballads combine the features of the PRD songs, form its unique style of local literature and art, and become an important part of Nansha native culture. However, except that some simple introduction can be found in the local chronicles and the collection of local cultural and historical data, there is few study on Nansha ballads.In this paper, the author makes a research on Nansha ballads from six aspects. Partâ… : Basing on the historical documents, the author explains the significance of this writing and research value, as well as the present academic research related to Nansha ballads. Partâ…¡:From the cultural background, the geographical background, and the origin and history of Nansha folk songs, the author introduces the development process of Nansha ballads. Partâ…¢:The author introduces the features, the connotation and the musical characteristics of all kinds of Nansha ballads. Partâ…£: From the aspect of words and rhetoric, the author indicates how the rhetoric is applied in the songs and how wonderful the words are. Partâ…¤:From the aspect of the portrait, the author analyses how the female characters are molded in Nansha baliads, especially in those Cantonese folk songs which fishermen or fisherwomen sing while fishing. Partâ…¥:From the aspect of the social function, the author analyses various aesthetic functions of different ballads, including "imagining", "viewing", "communicating", "criticizing". In the end of the article, the author hopes that in the contemporary era when non-mainstream culture's nationalism and folk is decreasing, this systematic study on Nansha ballads will provide a certain reference and have more significant influence on spreading and introducing Nansha ballads, as well as carrying on it and developing it.
