Doris Lessing, one of the most outstanding writers in contemporary British literature, was known as "the greatest female writer after Woolf ". With her high durable writing passion, unique literary style, creative writing technique, distinctive creation theme, and profound connotations of the original literary, Lessing enjoyed a high reputation in world literature field.She had always been called as the"Literature grandmother"and"Evergreen Tree of Literary world". She had won many world-class literature awards: including the Nobel Prize of Literature in 2007. Lessing had a broad vision, and her works covered political and racial conflicts, sexual relation, cultural conflict, environmental protection, religion thoughts, and so on. She showed in her creation of incredible perspectives, as she had touched the core of the problem before it came to people's concern. For the present fierce global ecological crisis, Lessing maintained her consistent foresee ability. Throughout more than half a century's writing career, "ecology" is not only the basis and keystone of Lessing's ideology, but also the basic theme of her literature.Therefore, using ecological criticism and comparative literature theory as the basis, survival morality recommended by Eco-ethics as the value standard, aesthetics principles from ecological aesthetics as the aesthetical ideas, this paper investigates Lessing's works both macroscopically and microscopically to uncover its hidden ecology aspects from the perspective of ecology. By doing so, the author is able to gain an insight into the rich ecology-related contents as well as their origins, reveal the main connotation of her ecological consciousness and consequently card its development. This paper consists of three parts: introduction, main body and conclusion. The main body can be divided into three chapters: Chapter One firstly briefly cards the development of Lessing's ecological consciousness, defines the basic concepts and core essence of"ecological literature"with reference to Buell and Bett's related writings, and then clear the category of her works. Next, by considering Doris Lessing's autobiography and carding the development of her ecological consciousness, this paper also reveals her main reason for writing and divides her works based on intrinsic logical connotation. Chapter Two takes three novels: "A Sunrise on the Veld" "Particularly Cats" and"Love, again"for example to discuss the mode of her ecological consciousness and figure out the basic clue of her writing. The third chapter analyzes her writing from two levels: ethic and culture, so as to condense her ecological ethic and ecological philosophy. These three novels reflected Lessing's rich ecological awareness and her ecological ideal from different levels respectively.
