Oil painting is a kind of visual language.In color fields, there are two branches of the theory: color system for painting from life and colors ystem for decoration.In painting from life,color depends on the scientific theory of light and color.While the realistic painters express the space,texture......they persue inner forma 1 beauty.The formal beauty consists many aspects:shapes' balance and space and density on composition, color scheme with hue and tone and saturation......But the focus of decorative color system is on the color scheme of local colors.The excelent examples are Dunhuang frescoes and Japanese Ukioe.As oil painting students,we can get many inspirations of color scheme and spaces'balance from the Dunhuang and Ukioe.It can helps us arrange the color relation actively.For example,post-impressionists paid more attention on the inner beauty of color scheme.And there are many artists created their own styles with decorative color.And the other examples are:Klimt combined the realism and decorative,Ding Shaoguang orgnized the minorities'patterns.In this paper, I analise the decorative painting and conclude the aspcets of color formal beauty.To get the hamony color scheme and special beautu, we should pay more attention on any aspect of color.When all of the aspects were orgnized in a special way,we can get paintings with rhythm and metre.
