In the spring of 1994, some bamboo slips (the appropriate number is 1700) appeared in the antique markets HongKong. They were twice collected by Shanghai museum. The character style of those bamboo slips is the same as that of the bamboo slips of the state of chu in the warring States period. These bamboo slips are all ancient book of Pre-Qin dynasty in China. Ranging from philosophy, literature, history and politics, etc., altoghther thirty thousands words. Because the antique character of chu is lost for years, and, what was worse, most of the bamboo silps are broken and out of sepuence, it is difficult to paraphrase. Since 2001, Shanghai museum have organized experts to collate and paraphrase the bamboo slips and have published them (7 booklets in all) successively. These bamboo slips are still in the process of collating and notting. This paper copes especially with"Ji Gengzi asked Confucious"of"The bamboo slips of the state of chu in the warring States period collected by Shanghai museum (the fifth)"Focusing on the three aspects of binding and composition, the paraphrase and meaning of the bamboo slips, and the comparison of relative content between the bamboo slips and"Analects", probe into"Ji Gengzi asked Confucious". Based on the existing theories and refered to some ancients books to supplement evidences, the autor strive to bring forward some new points so as to provide other researchers with utilizable materials after finished this paper. The text probes into the bamboo slips through three parts:The bamboo slips of Shanghai museum is not unearthed by archaeologists directly but through purchase.what was worse, there are lots of dilapidated and broken bamboo slips and they are out of sequence. So it is really difficult to paraphrase them. The first part of this paper deals with the binding and composition of"Ji Gengzi asked Confucious"and this part is divided into two aspects: one is the view of the collator Pu Maozuo for thebinding and composition of bamboo slips. The other is the opinions of various scholars for the binding and composition of bamboo slips. Among them, some opinions received the unanimously approval of many scholars. For example, the 16th slip was recognized as not belong to this article. the 15thA and the 9th slips, the 22thA and the 13th slips can be pieced together into two complete ones. The first to forth slips, the 11thB and 18thA slips, the 19th,20th and 23th can be read successively, etc. Based on the meanings, rely on the unearthed documents and handed down documents, use relative knowledge and consider the opinions of various scholars of different schools, this paper re-collates the sequence of the bamboo slips of collated by the original collators as the following: 1, 2, 3, 4, 11B+18A, 17, 6, 7, 12, 15B, 22B, 8, 5, 21, 22A+13, 14, 15A+9, 10, 11A+18B, 19, 20, 23. This paper believes that the 16th slip does't belong to this article. The greatest discrepancy of opinions between this paper and other scholars of different schools is the sequence of the 17th and 5th bamboo slips. The second part is the review of the paraphrase of bamboo slips and the research, which is also the most important part of this paper. The annotation adopts the newly collated sequence of slips and the paraphrases were annotated with date of publication and were arranged in the light of that of the works written by scholars of different schools. Finally, the author shows her own paraphrases and uderstandings of the article in the form of notes. However, some of the notets are some kind of guess, the impertinences are unavoidable. Besides, we can not give a reasonable answers to the difficult problems of some characters. The third part is echo of"Ji Gengzi asked Confucious"and"Confucian Analects". Through the comparison of the artitle"Ji Gengzi asked Confucious"to"Confucian Analects", this chapter disscusses the ideology of governance of"policy of benevolence"of Confucious, elaborates the ideology of governance of Zang Wenzhong, Guanzhong and Meng Ziyu so as to enrich our konwdege about the ideology of Confucious and enlarge the materials about Confucious besides"Confucian Analects".
