Objective: To determine time window of early group acupuncture treatment with rehabilitative exercises treat stroke and value the effects of early rehabilitation on motor function and ADL. Method: 66 hemiplegia patients with acute stroke were randomized divided into early group(34 patients)and no-early group (32 patients). Early groups were treated with systematic acupuncture treatment within two weeks, no-early groups were treated two weeks later. At the same time, two groups accept usual medicine treatment and rehabilitative exercises treatment all. The two groups were assessed by the Fugl-Meyer assessment(FMA) and modified barthel index(MBI), and record the disability rate when patients came into groups three months(BI≤60). Results: Fugl-Meyer indices and MBI were significantly increased after treatment as compared with those before treatment in both two groups(P<0.001),and early group are more than no-early group(P<0.05); the disability rate of two groups are lower than total rate(P<0.001),but the disability rate of early group is as same as no-early group′s(P>0.05). Conclusion: hemiplegia patients who accept treatment of acupuncture treatment with rehabilitative exercises in acute stroke on the base of accepting usual medicine will get better recovery than those patients of no-early groups,it has the trend of reducing disability rate.
