Expressions And Clinicopathologic Significance Of BRCA1, EGFR In Basal-like Breast Carcinoma

Objective: To investigate the expressions of BRCA1, EGFR in breast carcinoma tissues, its adjacent tissues and basal-like breast carcinoma tissues, and to explore the Expressions and clinicopathologic significance of BRCA1, EGFR in basal-like breast carcinoma. Methods: BRCA1, EGFR were detected by PV-9000 immunohistochemical technique in 30 cases of breast carcinoma and its adjacent tissues, 83 cases of basal-like breast carcinoma tissues. The data was analyzed combining with clinicolpathological characters using nonparametric test, Pearsonχ2 test, Spearman rank correlation. Results: (1)The positive rate of BRCA1 was 93.33% in breast carcinoma's adjacent tissues, 76.67% in breast carcinoma, 57.83% in basal-like breast carcinoma, which was significantly different.(2)The positive rate of EGFR was 16.67% in breast carcinoma's adjacent tissues, 46.67%in breast carcinoma, 57.83% in basal-like breast carcinoma, which was significantly different. (3)The positive rate of BRCA1 was 57.83%(48/83) in basal-like breast carcinoma. The expression of BRCA1 was different from age, metastasis of axillary lymph nodes, clinical stage (p<0.05), was correlated positively with age(rs=0.305 , p=0.05) ; but no different from ethnic people, tumor size, menopause or not and histopathological grading (p>0.05).(4)The positive rate of EGFR in basal-like breast carcinoma was 87.95%(73/83). The expression of EGFR was different from metastasis of axillary lymph nodes and clinical stage(p<0.05), was correlated positively with lymph node metastasis(rs=0.289, p=0.008), but no different from ethnic people, age, tumor size, menopause or not and pathological grading(p>0.05).(5)It was not founded correlation between the expression of BRCA1and EGFR in basal-like breast carcinoma(p=0.051>0.05). Conclusion:BRCA1 and EGFR are playing important roles in basal- like breast carcinoma's metastasis.
