Baotailing Tablets Therapy For First-trimester Threatened Abortion: A Clinical Researeh

Objective:The purpose of this current study is to examining the clinical evidence on effectiveness of Baotailing tablets treatment for first-trimester threatened abortion due to kidney deficiency using Chinese medical syndrome differentiation, with progesterone capsules as a control.Methods:1. The trial was designed as a randomized, parallel group controlled study. Sixty-two patients were enrolled in this study. The patients were assigned randomly to Baotailing or progesterone group. The groups did not differ in terms of maternal age,body mass index,parity, cigarette smoking, social conditions and gestational age during consecutive visits.2. The symptoms, signs and the total effective ratios of each group were observed. We also compare the influence of the two groups on serum progesterone (P), estradiol (E2), beta-human chorionic gonadotropin (β-hCG) and transabdominal Doppler ultrasound measurement of uterine artery blood flow after treatment.3. All statistical evaluations were performed with statistical package for the social sciences 14.0 (SPSS 14.0). Aprobability value of 0.05 was considered significant. Results:1. After 10 days treatment, the total effcetive rate of the treatment group and the control group were 90.9% and 89.7%, the cure rate were 30.3% and 17.2%, There was no signifieant difference between the two group (P> 0.05).2. Both groups can decrease the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) symptoms seore, and Baotailing is better (P< 0.05)3. There are 90.9% patients continue the pregnancy to 28+ weeks in the treatment group and 86.2% in the control group, no significant difference between the two groups (P> 0.05).4. Both groups can promote the level of serum P, E2,β-hCG, the difference was significant.5. Insignificant decrease in pulsatility index (PI) of the uterine artery was observed after treatment in both groups. Significant decrease in systolic/diastolic ratio (S/D) was observed in both groups after treatment. only Baotailing treatment was accompanied by the decrease of resistance index (RI)6. There are no abnormal changes for the treatment group in blood routine, urinary routine, hepatic function and renal function after the treatment. Color ultrasound were used to check the third trimester of pregnancy, severe deformities were not detected.Conclusions:Baotailing tablets are safe and effective drugs for curing early threatened abortion due to kidney deficiency. And they can improve the levers of serum E2, P,β-HCG and decrease RI and S/D in the uterine artery.
