Objective:To investigate the effects of acupuncture on cerebral function activities of patients with acute cerebral infarction. To evaluate the relation between acupuncture treatment and motor recovery of stroke patients and try to supply a foundation for the therapeutical function of acupuncture.Methods:30 volunteers were chosed, male 17,female 13,age 19-72,mean age 55.20 patients with a recent cerebral infarction was seperated at randon to acupuncture group and non-acupuncture group. They were right handedness.Serial DTI,FLAIR and T2WI scan were performed to all at each week and evaluated with NIHSS and BI during 8weeks. All volunteers and patients were examined in a block design by hand finger tapping. The dynamic images were postprocessed and analysed by SPM5.The characteristic of changing with ADC and FA at infarct and cerebral peduncle were analysed and compared. The location, area and quantity of activation in fMRI were analysed. All data showed with x±s.Results:(1)In normal group, the ADC and FA in basa ganglia were 763.59±36.07×10-3mm2/s,0.509±0.037 respectively, the ADC value in cerebral peduncle was 803.81±47.01×10-3 mm2/s. (2)The ADC at infarction was decrease from stoke, then a significant elevation in ADC values was observed after acute stage and a significant reduction in the FA values was observed from stroke onset. The better recovery the softer change of ADC and FA, vise versa. (3)The ADC of cerebral peduncle was reduced in all patient. (4)There was a significant difference on ADC,FA between acupuncture group and non-acupuncture group with 8 weeks. (5)During the recovery time, the area of activation in all patents was bigger than before. Conclusion:DTI are sensitivity in diagnosing acute cerebral ischemia. The ADC and FA can reflect the recovery of the patient and revealed the progressive secondary degeneration.
