| Objective:The aim of the study was to assess the differences on flexural strength and elastic module of six types of fiber posts, and to verify the existence of a correlation between structural characteristics and elastic module. Methods:Rebilda Post (group A), RelyX Fiber Post (group B), ParaPost Taper Lux (group C), D. T. LIGHT POST (group D), MACRO LOCK Fiber Post (group E) and MATCH-POST (group F) were selected for this study, each including fifteen samples. Ten posts of each experimental group were selected for a three-point bending test, flexural strength and elastic module of all the samples were measured. Five posts were processed for SEM evaluation, including fiber diameter, the number of fibers per mm2, Fiber/matrix Ratio, the distance between fibers and bubble scores. Correlation between structural characteristics and elastic module was calculated. Results:There was no significant difference in flexural strength between group C and D while significant difference between other groups. There was no significant difference in elastic module between group A and D, group B and E, group B and F, group E and F while significant difference between other groups. The fiber/matrix ratio showed a positive correlation to the elastic module and the bubble scores showed a negative correlation to the elastic module. Conclusion:There is significant difference in flexural strength and elastic module between each group. MACRO LOCK POST had the biggest flexural strength while Rebilda Post has the similar elastic module with dentin. The fiber/matrix ratio has a positive correlation to the elastic module. The combine level of fiber and matrix ratio has a negative correlation to the elastic module. |
