Objective: To explore the methods of repairing scalp electrical burn wounds with skull exposure. Methods: Fifteen patients with skull exposure suffered from scalp electrical burn, were chosen from February 1995 to October 2009, reviewed the methods of repairing which the skin grafting on granulation wound after outer table of skull perforated, local skin flap ad skin grafting and scalp expansion. the maximal scalp defect size was 16cm×10cm, the maximal skull exposure size was 13cm×12cm. Results: Three cases used skin grafting on granulation wound healed on the first stage. Four local skin flap ad skin grafting survived and the wound healed on the first stage, one case of the necrosis in the distal of flap and delayed wound healing. One case with scalp expander was exposed at the later period expanding, which was repaired by secondary operation in time, all the flaps survived completely and all the defect were recovered with satisfactory. All satisfactory results were got after 6 months to 2 years follow-up. Conclusion: Of three methods to repair scalp electrical burn wounds with skull exposure, each might have its respective indication and must be selected by general, local and economic conditions. The scalp expansion might be an ideal method, local skin flap ad skin grafting was an effective and convenient method to early repair scalp defect and skull exposure and which shorten the hospitalization time. The skin grafting on granulation wound after outer table of skull perforated could be used for poor general, local and flaps conditions.
