Objective: Multislice computed tomography (MSCT) is a promising non-invasive method to diagnose coronary artery disease (CAD) reported in the present study. This article aims to determine the accuracy of 64-slice spiral computer tomography in the diagnosis of coronary artery lesions. Methods: We retrospectively collected the coronary artery imaging data of 120 patients with known or suspected CAD hospitalized in our ward during July 2006 and May 2009.Each patient underwent 64-slice CTA and conventional catheter- based selective coronary angiography (SCA) which served as gold standard in 2 weeks. For the analysis of MSCT and CAG, the coronary artery tree was broken down in 16 segments after a modified American Heart Associa- tion(AHA) classification and all segments were analysed indivi- dually.A luminal narrowing of .≥50% based on visual estimation was considered significant in both modalities. The diagnostic accuracy of 64-slice spiral CTA was expressed as sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value. Results: Of a total of 1920 coronary artery segments,1857(97%)were visible by MSCT and CAG simultaneously. The CTA had a sensitivity of 89%, specificity of 98% , positive predictive value of 85%, negative predictive value of 98%, diagnose accordance rate of 97%,respect- tively. Conclusion: 64-slice MSCT has a good diagnostic accuracy in detect- ing of significant stenoses meeting the diagnostic value for the diagnosis of CAD. in addition, its pecificity and negative predictive value are so high that it can be used for intherapeutic decision- making with regard to revasculariza- tion procedures in patients with suspected CAD.
