Study Design A reliability and validity study of a translated, culturally adapted Chinese version of Quebec Back Pain Disability Scale(QBPDS)。Objective The aims of the present study were to translate the Quebec Back Pain Disability Scale (QBPDS) into Chinese, perform its cross-cultural adaptation for Chinese patients with low back pain (LBP), and to investigate its validity and test-retest reliability。Evaluate the feasibility of assessing the scale on LBP patients in China。Summary of Background As a widely used scale in the evaluation of patients with LBP, the QBPDS has been translated into many different versions including the Turkish,Dutch and Persian versions and put into application, but so far, no translation and validation into Chinese version of QBPDS。Methods The translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the English version questionnaire was performed, one hundred patients with LBP were included in our study using the translated, culturally adapted Chinese version of QBPDS。Patients who participated in this study should be clinically screened, and established a set of including criteria。The inpatients and outpatients were evaluated by completeing the three questionnaires containing the QBPDS, CODI and VAS, And then repeated them again in 2 days later on the same patients。Collected the data and used statistical analysis。Reliability was evaluated using internal consistency and the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC)。validity was measured by comparing the Chinese version of the QBPDS results to VAS and the CODI。Results The QBPDS showed excellent test-retest reliability as evidenced by the high ICC for 2 test occasions(ICC=0.974, P<0.000)。Also, internal consistency was found to be adequate at both assessments with the Cronbach's alpha coefficient(0.972 and 0.974 at day 0 and 2, respectively)。The correlation between QDS and CODI and VAS both for day 0 (r= 0.898; P<0.000, r=0.895, P<0.000, respectively) and for day 2 (r=0.968; P<0.000, r=0.921; P<0.000, respectively)。The results showed significant correlation among the three。Conclusion The results of our study show that QBPDS as a functional status questionnaire has been translated into Chinese without losing the psychometric properties of the original version。 The Chinese version of the QBPDS has good comprehensibility, internal consistency and validity and is an adequate and useful instrument for the evaluation of disability in patients with LBP in China。...
