Objective:To investigate the distribution of etiological agents for asthma exacerbations among children in Chongqing.Methods:203 cases of hospitalized children ( age≥5 years ) with asthma exacerbations during the period of November 2007 and October 2008 in Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University were retrospectively analyzed. Results:Checking children with asthma attack, the respectively positive rate of Chlamydia pneumoniae (CP), Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP), was 29.6%, 22.9%; The positive rate of respiratory virus checking in children with asthma attack was 10.2%,including Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV, 4.5%) ; The detection of bacteria was 46.7%, including Moraxella catarrhalis 25.4%, and Streptococcus pneumoniae 12.4%, separately. The window of respiratory tract viral infection-induced asthma attack was primarily determined in 4.2±3.1 days. Conclusions:Asthma exacerbation in children is related closely to respiratory virus, MP, CP. The detection rates of 7 common respiratory tract virus are low. Bacterial infection in acute exacerbation of asthma may play an important role.
