Objective: To study the curative effects and feasibility of pre - operative intra uterine arterial neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients for stageⅡcervical cancer. Methods: A retrospective study 116 patients with FIGO stageⅡa~Ⅱb cervical cancer were performed intra - arterial neoadjuvant chemotherapy with DDP,5-FU, EPI for 1-2 cycles during the period of September 2005 and June 2008 at Xinjang tumor hospital , 2-3weeks after 86 patients followed radical operation and 30 patients followed radiotherapy. The study group (n=86) underwent surgery following intra uterine arterial neoadjuvant chemotherapy while control group (n=80) were selected among the patient of cervical cancer performed operations without chemotherapy. Compared two groups of pathological risk factor, operation time, bleeding amounts and operative complication. Results: After intra uterine arterial neoadjuvant chemotherapy, The tumor size reduced significantly, the rates of complete response plus partial response were 74.14%, pathological complete responses were found in 4 cases(4.65%); there are no significant differences in operation bleeding amounts ,operation time and pathological risk factor between two groups. Compared with the control group, incidence of operative complications were statistically lower in experiment group. Conclusion: Intra - arterial neoadjuvant chemotherapy is a safe and effective therapeutic option which could decrease tumor size and infiltration of lateral uterus, reduce clinical stage and increase the radical resection rate, While no increasing of operative complications, operative time and bleeding amounts .But the effect on long term survival rate need to further observed.
