Objective: to investigate the association of HLA-DRB1,DQB1 alleles and artemisia pollen allergic patients of han and uygur people in xinjiang. Methods: By using PCR-SSP (sequence-specific primer polymerase chain reaction), we tested fifty uygur and fifty han people with allergic rhinitis with hypersensitivity to artemisia pollen in xinjiang. The control group included fifty uygur and fifty han people in the region. Results: the statistical results showed that the frequencies of HLA-DRB1*01 were significantly higher in the uygur group with allegic rhinitis(9%) than in the relative control group(1%) (P=0.009, P<0.05) and the frequencies of HLA-DQB1*05 were significantly higher in the uygur group with allegic rhinitis(19.4%) than in the relative control group(7%) (P=0.010, P<0.05). The frequencies of HLA-DRB1*11 were higher in the han group with allergic rhinitis(9%) than in the relative control group(2%) (P=0.030, P<0.05). The other alleles frequencies had no significant difference in the allergic rhinitis group and in the control group. Conclusion: the investigation indicated that HLA-DRB1*01, HLA-DQ B1*05 might be associated with the uygur patients with allergic rhinitis, HLA-DRB1*11 might be associated with the han patients with allergic rhinitis.
