Objective: To study the effect of vitrectomy on concentration of cefoperazone/sulbactam in aqueous humor and vitreous when rabbits are treated intravenously for different courses of treatment. Methods: Twenty-eight rabbits randomly divided into 4 groups. group A1 and A2 underwent intravitreous injection with cefoperazone/Sulbactam for 1 day and 4 day after operation; group B1 and B2 were given treatment for 1 day and 4 day without operation. Concentration of cefoperazone from all of samples was determined by High performance liquid c?hromatography (HPLC). Results: By the analysis of variance , the difference of drug concentration in aqueous humor and vitreous between group Aand B was statistically significant(P<0.05), concentration of the operations was higher than others in aqueous humor. Cefoperazone concentration was increased and sulbactam concentration was decreased in vitreous after operation .The difference of drug concentration in aqueous humor between group 1 and 2 was statistically significant(P<0.05), the concentration was reduction after 4 day treatment. While the difference of sulbactam concentration in aqueous humor was not statistically significant(P>0.05). The difference of cefoperazone/sulbactam concentration in vitreous between group 1 and 2 was not statistically significant(P>0.05). Conclusion: Cefoperazone can reach intraocular tissue better after vitrectomy, at the 4th day after operation, the effect of vitrectomy was reduced in aqueous humor, and remained in vitreous.
