Clinical Research Of Warming The Kidney And Activating The Blood Methods Combined With TP Chemotherapy In The Treatment Of Advanced Ovarian Cancer

Objectives:To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of warming the kidney and activating the blood methods on advanced ovarian cancer patients, to evaluate the effect of the chinese herbal compound formula created under the guidance of this method and to elaborate the characteristics and advantages of ovarian cancer treatment by Traditional Chinese Medicine in order to lay the foundation for relulating the efficient evaluation system of Chinese Medicine.Methods:40 casea of ovarian cancer patients were randomly divided into two groups with the randomized-controlled method in which 20 cases in the treatmeat grounp were treated by warming the kidney and activating the blood decoction combined with TP chemotherapy while 20 cases in the control group were simply used TP chemotherapy. TP chemotherapy were continuously used two cycles with 21 days percycle.Cases in the treatment group took warming the kidney and activating the blood decoction one dose each day during intermittent chemotherapy periods. TCM symptom score, kupperman index, life quality score, karnofsky score and other safety indicators such as blood routine and liver&kidney function were recorded before and after the treatment. The results were analyzed by the statistical software.Result:â‘ Comparison of TCM symptoms:17 cases (85.00%) were effective and 3 cases (15.00%) invalid in the treatment grounp while in the control group 9 cases (45.00%) were effective and 11 cases (55.00%) invalid. The treatment group was significantly better than the control group (P<0.01).â‘¡Comparison of life quality:separate scores in all areas between the groups before the treatment showed no significant difference (P>0.05), which was comparable. After the treatment, the scores of the physical function, cognitive function and social function in the treatment group were higher than that in the control group with the statistical significance (P<0.05);The scores of fatigue, insomnia, appetite loss, nausea and vomiting and other symptoms were lower than that in the control group with statistical significance (P<0.05); Role function, emotional function and the total quality of life has increased in two groups, but the difference was not statistically significant (P>0.05); Pain, breathing difficulties, diarrhea, constipation and economic difficulties group were lowwer in the treatment group and no statistical difference showed between the groups (P>0.05).â‘¢ kupperman index:After treatmet, improvement of kupperman index in the treatment group was better than in the control group (P<0.05).â‘£Physical situation:85.00%(CR+PR) in the treatment group and 75.00% in the control group after treatment showed that patients in the treatment group had better physical status (P<0.05).Conclusion:Warming the kidney and activating the blood decoction combined with TP chemotherapy for ovarian cancer is superior to chemotherapy alone in improving quality of life, TCM symptoms, kupperman index and physical conditions.
