Objective:The aim of this in-vitro study was to evaluate the frictional force of brackets-orthodontic wires-ligating methods by using experiment models.Methods:1.The Typodont was used to copy the model one which include periodontal ligament. The frictional forces of four kinds of nickel-titanium archwires(TP,SMT,DAMON,YY)and three kinds of ligating methods (Neo-clip modules, stainless steel ligature wires, conventional modules) were tested.2. The model one was used to copy the model two. The frictional forces of three kinds of stainless steel archwires (0.017×0.025 in,0.018×0.025 in,0.019×0.025 in)and four kinds of ligating methods (Neo-clip modules, stainless steel ligature wires,3M Alastik Easy-To-Tie modules, conventional modules) were tested on the model one and model two.Results:1.NiTi archwire groups:①In this four kinds of of 0.018×0.025 NiTi archwires, TP thermal activated NiTi archwire has minimal friction, SMT super elastic archwire has the second minimal friction. The difference was significantly(p<0.05).②Neo-clip modules combine with each archwire group have minimal friction, the second are stainless steel ligature wires, conventional ligature have maximum sliding friction. The difference was significantly(p<0.05).2. Stainless steel archwire groups:①In model one, 0.018×0.025 in stainless steel archwire had the minimal friction, the difference is significantly(p<0.05).0.017×0.025 in stainless steel archwire was similar with 0.019×0.025 in stainless steel archwire(p>0.05).②In model 2, the friction increase with the size of archwire. The difference is significantly. (p<0.05).③The friction with different kinds of ligatures are significantly, as Neo-clip modules
