ObjectiveTo know the difference between different surgeries treating different hallux valgus patients; to evaluate the outcome of different surgeries; to study the motion range of the first metatarsal-phalange joint.Methods203 patients (267 feet) who underwent hallux valgus surgeries are contributed to the investigations. The following surgeries are included:soft tissue surgery, Chevron surgery, Lapidus surgery, Keller surgery, and so on.The examinations includes:the degree of pain, the total motion range of the first metatarsal-phalange joint, the influence of everyday life.Every patient have finished a follow-up paperwork after surgery. The last follow-up paperwork is adopted in this research. The AOFAS Scale is used to evaluate the function, appearance, symptoms and total satisfaction of the patients.Results:1. The average AOFAS grade of all the patients before surgeries is 48.87. The average AOFAS grade of all the patients after surgeries is 76.38.2. The average before-surgery AOFAS grade of the mild patients who underwent soft tissue surgery is 59.96, and the average after-surgery AOFAS grade of them is 83.82. The average before-surgery AOFAS grade of the mild patients who underwent Chevron surgery is 53.02, and the average after-surgery AOFAS grade of them is 88.32.3. The average before-surgery AOFAS grade of the moderate patients who underwent soft tissue surgery is 49.56, and the average after-surgery AOFAS grade of them is 75.42. The average before-surgery AOFAS grade of the moderate patients who underwent Chevron surgery is 44.62, and the average after-surgery AOFAS grade of them is 81.92. The average before-surgery AOFAS grade of the moderate patients who underwent Keller surgery is 54, and the average after-surgery AOFAS grade of them is 94.4. The average before-surgery AOFAS grade of the serious patients who underwent Lapidus surgery is 40.46, and the average after-surgery AOFAS grade of them is 75.08. The average before-surgery AOFAS grade of the serious patients who underwent united surgery is 42, and the average after-surgery AOFAS grade of them is 64.83.5. There are 42 feet whose the first metatarsal-phalange joint is restricted among all the 111 feet in which K-wire is used to fix the first metatarsal-phalange joint temporarily. There are 44 feet whose the first metatarsal-phalange joint is restricted among all the 156 feet in which K-wire is not used.Conclusions:1. The Keller surgery is better than soft tissue surgery for mild patients.2. The Keller surgery is better than soft tissue surgery for moderate patients.3. Lapidus surgery is very effective for serious patients. The united surgeries are not so good.4. The feet in which K-wire is used to fix the first metatarsal-phalange joint temporarily have a higher chance to get hallux rigidus.5. The patients who underwent soft tissue surgery have a low chance to get hallux rigidus.
