Application Of Modular Femoral Prosthesis In Hip Revision

Objective To discuss the methods and clinical effects of application of modular femoral prosthesis in hip revision.Methods Retrospective analysis of 23 patients with 23 hips 2005.04-2009.03 application group with modular femoral prosthesis (MP) of total hip revision approach and clinical results. Which of them are 17 male,6 female Aged from 40 to 72 years old (mean 60.3 y).All of them were followed up with an average time of 29 months(ranged from 12 months to 60 months). The causes of revision:17 cases of aseptic loosening, infection in 5 cases, prosthesis fracture in 1. Preoperative femoral bone defect Paproskyâ… in 4 cases, Paproskyâ…¡15 cases, Paproskyâ…¢A 3 cases, Paproskyâ…¢B 1 cases.Result The Harris hip score:Preoperative average of 41.3 points (26-61 points),1 year after surgery an average of 86.7 points (75-93 points), last an average of 88.3 points (78-93 points). X ray shows good location of implants, no significant displacement of distal and proximal. Patients are all in good condition without complications.Conclusion Modular femoral prosthesis (MP) on the line of hip revision in most patients which their bone defect are less serious than popraskyâ…£with good short and medium term efficacy.
